From the Moment We Met — At ama’s Home

From the Moment We Met — At ama’s Home

The Story of the Chipmunk Vase and 大田愛さん

The first time Ai Ota saw the Chipmunk Vase, she felt something like love at first sight.

“It felt like a tiny chipmunk holding a flower, bringing a quiet little gift into my life —
and gently keeping me company on my desk, in my everyday corner.”

Since that day, the chipmunk became part of her daily life

Ai Ota is the founder of ama, a curated lifestyle shop based in Japan. She usually prefers minimal, simple objects, and rarely chooses anything with animal designs.

But when she saw this little chipmunk holding a flower, something changed. All her hesitation suddenly felt… kind of cute.

“When I look at the chipmunk, the flower seems more alive, too.
Every morning when I see it, I feel quietly comforted.”
— Ai Ota

A flower can open a whole new corner of your life

Maybe you’re like her — someone who doesn’t usually choose animal-shaped vases. Maybe you’ve wondered if it would look too cute, or stand out too much in your space.

But often, softening life just takes one small step. One vase. One flower. One new corner in your home you hadn’t noticed before.

At haoshi, we hope design can simply return to life itself

At haoshi, we hope each piece we create can remind you of something small — but deeply beautiful.

A flower.
A patch of light.
A look that makes you smile.
Or a little chipmunk that quietly sits beside you.

We want to bring softness back into the busy world — and help you fall in love with the everyday again.

A heartfelt gift can stay with someone for a long time

In 2015, Ai started her store ama, hoping to share the joy of giving. She began by curating gifts for newborns — small, meaningful items to welcome a new life. That same sense of care and thoughtfulness has stayed with her ever since.

She doesn’t search for just “products.” She looks for treasures — the kind you keep in your heart.

The name ama is soft and simple — just like the way she chooses her items. She often says, “I hope to send warm things into homes with stories.”

Now, this little chipmunk — a design from Taiwan — has quietly found its way into her home in Japan.

Through every haoshi piece, we hope to cross borders and languages,
and stay by your side during the small, gentle moments in life.

🕊️ If you're looking for something to keep you company through the days, maybe this little chipmunk is your next quiet joy.

Try placing it on your desk, a shelf, or beside your morning cup — it might quietly become your favorite view of the day.
