Inspiration Everywhere: A Deer’s Journey from Nature to Home
For us, inspiration can be found everywhere—whether that be in the nature outside our window or the pets that share our home.
One day, I noticed how a vase placed on a side table, at about 110 cm high, was perfectly visible whether you’re standing or sitting. That sparked an idea: why not create a life-size deer as a vase?
This “Deer Vase” takes its inspiration from the graceful spirit of the sika deer. In Eastern culture, the deer symbolizes peace and good fortune, while a young deer without antlers reminds me of a budding flower—filled with hope and vitality. In this design, blossoms stand in for antlers, naturally reaching upward and bringing renewed energy into everyday spaces.
I chose a “light, elegant stance” for the deer, adding a touch of movement and playfulness. It’s as though it’s wandering through a forest—both poised and curious. In that fleeting moment when it turns its head, I hope you can sense its gentle warmth and subtle, vibrant life.
I love infusing my work with both softness and a hint of fun, avoiding any aggressive imagery of predators or prey. The Little Deer Vase evokes forests, nature, and those quiet joys we often overlook in daily life. Through a clean but meaningful design, my goal is to bring a comforting yet powerful presence to your home.
To capture the look and feel of a real deer, skilled artisans use classic sculpture techniques: first shaping the form in clay to grasp the deer’s essence, then carefully reproducing it by hand and adding final hand-finished touches. Although an entirely handmade process can be time-consuming, it keeps me connected to the joy and uniqueness of true creation.
When you look at this life-like deer vase, it feels as if you’ve stepped into a pure, tranquil setting—a tall, graceful deer waiting for you to adorn its antlers with flowers. Delicate features and vivid textures allow the wild and the refined to blend seamlessly, creating scenes that catch the heart.
By merging animal and plant elements, I aim to showcase nature’s inherent elegance and strength. Standing at true-to-life height, this deer vase can become a striking focal point in your living space, uniting art and nature in perfect harmony.
